Mark was born in South Dakota but raised in Minnesota. After serving proudly in Vietnam, Mark finished his four years of service and moved back to his roots in South Dakota. In love with selling, Mark joined the insurance industry and started selling insurance to farmers door to door. Seeing the problems farmers faced attempting to preserve for family’s legacy through death, Mark attended Life Underwriting Training Courses and learned how to do estate planning to help his clients. Helping numerous farms accomplish proper planning throughout South Dakota, Mark won many awards as a top agent for Farm Bureau. He also qualified for membership in the Million Dollar Round Table, an industry award only presented to the top agents in the nation.
As he progressed, he began to realize that his clients were facing a bigger risk than simple estate planning. He began to see clients facing financial devastation due to long stays in nursing homes. As the aging of America began, he shifted his focus to Long-Term Care Insurance. In 1998 he joined GoldenCare USA, the top independent Long-Term Care agency in the nation. He rapidly rose to the top ranks in the agency consistently winning top producer awards and, in 2010, was the number one Long-Term Care agent in the nation. He currently is working with Anchor Health helping nurses have a complete and honest understanding of Long-Term Care and the different options available to protect their family, assets and freedom of choice.
Mark has three grown children who have given him 12 grandchildren. On July 7, 2012 he married the love of his life. Calling it the happiest day of his life, Mark thanks God that he lived long enough to reach that day. Sheri and Mark now live in Coon Rapids, MN, close to their lake property in central Minnesota. When not helping clients, Mark loves to fish, hunt, snowmobile and coach youth baseball, football and hockey – although he admits he may be getting a little old for coaching activities.
